Mind and Body: A Winning Team in Stress Management
Stress is an unavoidable part of life and often has many sources. Living with MS can add to this stress. While most people are familiar with the many ways that stress can adversely affect their health, many people are less aware of the potential benefits of stress. Stress can be a signal that things are out of balance and can motivate people to make needed changes. It's not unusual for people to find themselves in a vicious cycle of stress and ineffective coping, which can result in even more stress. Learning how to interrupt and change the direction of this challenging cycle is critical. This goal is more likely to be achieved when your mind and body work as a team.
Please join psychologist Peggy Crawford and physical therapist Sue Kushner in an interactive discussion on helping your mind and body work together to reduce and more effectively manage stress. During this program, you will learn to recognize signs of stress, understand the relationship between stress and MS, identify the costs and benefits of stress, and implement effective coping strategies, including yoga and mindfulness.
