About this Event
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common chronic neurological condition affecting young adults. There are approximately 700,00 people with MS in Europe and 130,000 people with MS in the UK. MS affects cognitive, psychological, and physical skills, leading to problems in the personal and professional lives of people with MS.
People are diagnosed with MS between 20-40 years of age, which are the prime working years of an adult. However, after 10 years with the condition less than 50 % of people with MS remains employed. To date, there is limited research evidence on the effectiveness of vocational rehabilitation to support this population to remain at work. The key characteristics of these interventions such as timing and content are not yet understood.
Due to the chronic and complex nature of this condition, people with MS need support managing not only disease related factors, but also personal and work-related factors.
This webinar will explore the impact of MS in the workplace, the most common barriers to working with MS, and the support that might enable people with MS to remain at work for as long as they wish.
